The Galician granite industry starts its operations in quarries and continues them in factories. Machinery companies are part of this process and installers continue it with the installation of the processed products. This completes the value chain of granite, in which the Technology Centre plays a key role.
Our processing industry has replaced the simple tools of the craftsmen who formerly worked the stone by powerful machines, which have enabled our industry to make a qualitative leap in the 20th century towards modernization and the mechanization of processes.
Today in Galicia, the stone blocks are sawn, cut and polished in modern factories which are the most technologically advanced in the world.
At these factories the stone that is quarried from the mountains is transformed into end products such as tiles, facades and countertops.
These products reach the end consumer through the work of installers and masons, who are the professionals responsible for getting the stone to the building project and installing it.
The
Technology Centre becomes the technological
partner of the
Granite Cluster companies working in research and innovation throughout the process of the chain.
